Public lectures and symposia, which explore critical developments and new scholarship in visual culture and ideas by leading academics and industry professionals, are held in association with the exhibition program, and/or with partners throughout the year. The annual series includes:

  • The Mayne Centre Lecture provides the invited speaker with an opportunity to make a genuine and significant contribution to thoughts and debates on visual arts and culture. View more information
  • The Daphne Mayo Lecture is presented by The School of English, Media Studies and Art History, Faculty of Arts, and The University of Queensland Art Museum, in association with The Alumni Association of The University of Queensland Inc. View more information
  • Since 2004 The University of Queensland Art Museum has partnered with peak industry body Museum and Gallery Services Queensland, and the Museum Studies program in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History, Faculty of Arts, to present an annual seminar that explores contemporary issues and debates in the museum and gallery sector.
